Finding the Right Laser Cutting Company to Meet Your Needs: An Overview

13-07-2021

Laser cutting is a very particular type of hot cutting process that – as implied by the name – uses a laser to cut shapes or designs into materials like sheet metal. As the laser passes along the surface of the material, it melts or “cuts” what it comes into contact with – thus offering a process that is far more precise than ones using traditional dies or other tools.

But at the same time, it’s important for you to understand that not all laser cutting companies are created equally. If you want to make sure you’re finding a partner who can meet your needs on your next big project, there are a number of qualities you should be mindful of.

The Art of Laser Cutting: Breaking Things Down

By far, the most important thing to look for in a laser cutting partner has to do with the quality of the equipment they use.

At Yarder Manufacturing, for example, we have multiple state-of-the-art Trumpf lasers as the foundation of our laser cutting operations – allowing us to deliver precise, clean and accurate parts whenever our customers need them. The Trumpf Model L3030, for example, is capable of working with sheets of up to 5′ by 10′ in size. It even includes an innovative option that allows us to add new features into parts that have already been cut in the past.

Not only that, but the automatic material feed system allows is to run accurate production 24 hours a day, seven days a week – meaning that there is truly no deadline too tight for us to handle. Once the schematics are in the computer and we’ve confirmed that everything is operating as it should be, the system itself will be able to take it from there. Capacities will obviously vary depending on the material, but things range from 3/4″ to 1″ mild steel, 5/8″ to 1″ stainless steel, and 3/8″ to 1″ aluminum.

More than anything, you’ll want to find a company that is willing to act as more than just another services provider – they should be collaborators and genuine partners in every sense of the term. At Yarder, we can work with a wide range of electronic formats when it comes to your design – something that is essential in terms of adding flexibility to the process and increasing the speed at which we’re able to deliver your items as much as possible.

We will also work directly with you on your designs, leveraging the full power of our years of experience to your advantage. If we see any changes or adjustments that may be necessary, we’ll explain to you what they are and help make sure you understand why they matter – all so that you can have the most complete information to work from at all times.
