How Yarder Manufacturing is Doing Its Part to Combat ‘The Great Resignation’

These days, it’s difficult to find a company that has been around for over a century – but Yarder Manufacturing is proud to be one of them.

Originally opened in the early 1900s, the company was the product of Stanley Walter Yarder – a man who got his start pounding out dents in aftermarket Model A’s and Model T’s from his own home. As his business expanded, he brought his son into the mix. Soon, it became a generational effort for the Yarders. Indeed, this is a big part of the reason why the company has been successful for so long. Its most valuable assets – its employees – were literally made up of family members.

This is also part of the reason why the last few years have been so hard in a lot of ways in consideration of the significant labor shortage that a lot of businesses are facing. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, some have dubbed it “The Great Resignation.” One recent study indicated that a massive 4.4 million people quit their jobs in September of 2021 alone. That comes on the heels of 4.3 million who left their positions in August, and 4 million who did the same in July.

It’s happening for a lot of reasons. Some left in an attempt to preserve their work/life balance. Others felt things had grown too difficult and demanding due to the pandemic. Regardless, it’s a problem in search of a solution – and Yarder is doing everything it can to help.

Not only do industries collectively have to wait for things to “get back to normal,” but they also then need to adapt to whatever that “new normal” actually looks like.
